3 GREAT HACKS
Okay…Let's dive in! Here are 3 standout IKEA hacks we were tagged in this week that caught our attention.
#1💎
Why we like it: We came across these refurbished bedside tables and we're truly impressed! Originally in poor shape with visible damages, they've been sanded down, repaired, and given a fresh coat in a soothing gray-green. Those new brass handles are the finishing touch. What a wonderful restoration job! It's inspiring to see such dedication to giving old furniture new life. 👌
#2💎
Why we like it: The ingenuity behind this IKEA PAX wardrobe adaptation caught our eye! By extending them across the entire bedroom and seamlessly blending them into the wall with painted MDF, they achieve a custom-built appearance. A brilliant way to maximize storage without compromising aesthetics. And, as an added bonus, it seems Loki the cat has found a new playground (check the last photo!). This hack truly showcases both function and fun.
#3💎
Why we like it: We spotted this impressive #ikeahack! The Forhoja bar cart has been skillfully revamped, breathing fresh life into the piece. It's always inspiring to see a classic item get such a creative update. Well done on the transformation!

1 PRO TIP
Hej Hej… Urban here! I received a great question this week that I wanted to share.
Question: You recently posted a video on painting Ikea furniture and suggested sanding down was key. Would this guidance work on an IKEA breakfast bar do you think?
Thanks for your question! Yes, the same guidance about sanding down the surface would apply when painting an IKEA breakfast bar.
Here are a few tips:
Thoroughly clean the breakfast bar and let it dry completely before painting. Use a degreaser if needed to remove any residue.
Lightly sand the entire surface with a fine-grit sandpaper. This helps the paint adhere better. Be careful not to sand too aggressively or you may expose the particleboard underneath.
Apply 1-2 coats of a high-quality primer meant for laminate surfaces. Let each coat dry fully before adding the next.
Finish with 2-3 coats of latex paint in your desired color. Again, allow proper drying time between coats.
Consider using a satin or semi-gloss finish for easy cleaning. Matte paint on a high-use surface like a breakfast bar is prone to stains.
Optional - Add a protective clear coat for extra durability.
Take the prep work seriously and be patient with the process. The end result will be a refreshed breakfast bar with a custom-painted finish.
Hope that helps!
