1 PRO TIP
Hello! Urban here 👋
I spotted a question on Reddit about merging two Kallax units into a seamless wardrobe island. It got me thinking and I wanted to share my insights on how to achieve this transformation!
Here’s what you can do:
Step One: Unite and Conquer. Align your Kallax units back-to-back in perfect harmony. Once they're as snug as two peas in a pod, fasten them together from inside each cube using your handy drill. This quick move instantly turns your duo into a unified powerhouse.
Step Two: Waterfall Wonders. Have you ever seen a waterfall on furniture? No? Well, you're about to create one! Select a large board that perfectly fits the top of your combined Kallax units, but with an elegant overhang on each side. This 'waterfall' top infuses your Kallax combo with a chic, seamless look that shouts, 'Hey, I'm a unified island!'
Step Three: Bye-Bye, Gabel Ends. Now, here's a twist. Because of your amazing waterfall top, the 'Gabel ends' won't be necessary! The waterfall effect is all you need to conceal the fact that your island was once two separate units.
Step Four: Toe-Kick Triumph. Now, we're going to give your Kallax transformation its final, star-making touch: a 'toe kick'. By adding this simple recess at the bottom of your Kallax units, you create a flush finish with the floor, giving your island a more integrated look. Plus, it lets you stand closer to the island for added convenience. Toe-kick, you're the real MVP!
And there you have it! With these steps - unit union, a waterfall top, and a practical toe kick - you've magically transformed your individual Kallax units into a seamless, show-stopping wardrobe island. Hope that helps!
